About SKN-High Performance Glass
Ultra-high-performance glass provides natural light transmission while helping to limit heat gain and thermal energy transfer. Through continuous improvements in its thermal insulation and solar control performance, glass has become a flexible building material that can improve buildings’ energy efficiency. High-performance coated glass is a critical part of our glazing system. Coated glass allows building occupants to engage visually with the external environment from a comfortable interior.
High-performance glass works by controlling how it interacts with the electromagnetic spectrum. Solar energy from the sun includes ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared wavelengths ranging from 300 to 2,500 nm. Solar control-coated glass can block a significant portion of this energy by reflecting and absorbing it. High-performance coatings on glass are designed to slow radiant heat transfer by reflecting longwave radiation (heat) into the building structure during cooler periods.
SKN High-Performance Glass from Magic Glass offers critical benefits for thermal insulation and solar control. It allows sunlight to pass through while reflecting a large proportion of solar heat. This keeps indoor spaces brighter and cooler compared to uncoated glass, improving energy efficiency. The spectral selectivity of the coatings transmits more visible light and less overall solar energy for occupant comfort. The glass also helps reduce damaging UV rays, glare, and up to 99% of UV light that causes interior furnishings to fade. SKN glass is ideal for maximizing daylight utilization and energy performance in construction applications.
